OLD BUSINESS

State Fair 2008 (Roberto Ibarra)

Roberto reported that we had 232 animals at the 07 show.We should receive a check next week.

Roberto, Anne & Susan met with Nathan, the superintendent for the state fair livestock show. They discussed support from fair if we need it, the need for 2 rings as the show has grown, the barn has been fixed so we wont have to deal with flooding of stalls next year if it rains, and the number of stalls we need and how to get them set up correctly and the right kind.Anne mentioned that it would be good if we could solicit help from the fair workers to help with set up help is needed on Thursday for cleaning and cloroxing the stalls.Documentation for the show needs to be in to AOBA 120 days prior to the show.

We have one potential judge, Kevin OLeary and we are looking for a second judge.Volunteers for show are needed now.The following positions were mentioned and those who volunteered are:

 Gatekeeper:

 Barn Manager:Anne Stallcup

 Color Check:Susan Sasser

 Announcer & Clerk:

 Ring Steward:Dean Kahlich

 Promotion:Mary MacGyver

 Dinner:Lynne Fatkin

A message will be sent out to the membership to solicit help/volunteers.A sign up sheet was passed around for people to sign up to help. The dates for the show are September 20 and 21, 2008.

The need for an events coordinator was discussed. It was suggested we may need a team of people to do this.We would like to do some promotion in order to bring people in from other livestock industries. We discussed having the food off site and changing the performance class to Saturday in order to have better attendance.

We will have online entries only as the state fair is unable to change their procedures.Anne thought maybe we could allow mail in entries to Roberto and Anne early. We mentioned raising the entry fees, stall fees to $40.00, and sponsorships in order to generate more money for the association.

Roberto would like to have a core group of about 4 people to work with him.Contact him if you are interested.
