Thanks to Barry for the following info- here's an email forwarded from the Rescue Llam people:
Barry, I haven't heard from you in a very long time. How are your Llamas? I hope they are all well. We have a rescue situation again. It involves a herd of 54 llamas. We are working with the people and they have agreed to surrender 15 gelded males. We are to pick them up next week and are looking for good homes. Are you interested in adopting any of these guys or do you know of other good people that may be able to help? We will be shearing them first thing. Some are woollies are their wool is in terrible shape. Pat Little E.T. AND PAT LITTLE LA LUZ LLAMAS NEW MEXICO et@zianet.com |

The Hamiltons do a terrific job of rescuing llamas and finding them homes. The animals are just fine - but need homes where they will receive better treatment and care (and caring!) Llamas, as Marty McGee Bennett noted at the seminar she put on tJuly 10 and 11 at the Wargowskys' ranch, make very nice companions and protectors for an alpaca herd. Marty stressed that having a mature gelding gives the young males leadership and creates a natural order to their world when they are turned away from their mothers - they get to fit in again with the guidance of an older male lama which is how it would be in the mountains of their native SAmerica.
Anyway, if you're interested or know anyone who is, please contact Pat and E.T. and find out more about these animals. (I have three rescues and our neighbors, the Dybas, have four.) thanks, barry |
