Description

Opal is a sweet gentle girl. She has a very nice solid white fleece, grade 3, with a decent structure. Density would rate about a 2.5. Opal's main claim to fame so far in her young life is as a guest star on the popular television show, "In Plain Sight" where she won the hearts of cast and crew.

She is part of a herd I am providing foster care for since her owner suffered a catastrophic injury during back surgery. I am selling her as a non-breeder. She has never been entered in the Registry . Opal is a bit of an ooops - her mom is her sire's dam. In the cattle business this would be no big deal, not so much in the alpaca world where we breed females much longer into their reproductive years. She is free of any genetic defects as far as we can tell and is capable of reproduction and if you are interested in purchasing her as a registered breeding female, the price goes to $850. Still a very good dea but no reproductive guarantees are offeredl. I will handle the cost of getting her registered, costs for transport to your farm (including vet certs if needed) is your responsibility.

If you are new to alpaca ownership or if you are simply intrigued by the prospect of owning one of these beautiful creatures, I will be happy to mentor you. I love these girls as if they were my own and I want them to go to a good home. The first thing I will tell you is that you cannot own just one...alpacas are herd animals, you will need at least 2 and I heartily recommend 3. You must promise to shear them at least once a year and feed them a good grass hay if you don't have natural forage. Alpacas are actually very easy to keep, especially if you are not breeding them, but I will be available to help you in any way you might need.
