2013 in Review

January we signed a 5 year lease at 5 Windy’s Farm Road to start building our farm.

The cleaning continued in March. We began planting the garden, renovating the old chicken coop, and broke ground on our new barn. Mom went to TxOlan-March 1-3, Mom and I went to a Fleece Seminar in Show Low, AZ March 16-17.

Truly Thankful

We'd just got back to our farm from a Thanksgiving respite at Aspen Ridge Alpacas, only to find a new female cria nursing from Tayna. She's all brown except for a small white spot on the tip of her nose. Another miracle to be grateful for.

Our Three Little Helpers

Our Three Little Helpers

We had a surprising turn out from the community this weekend. We had over 100 people sign our guest book on Saturday and well over 50 on Sunday. Congratulations to Barbara Skodon who won the drawing for a beautiful 100% Baby Alpaca Scarf.

It was a great experience as we all pitched in and greeted everyone as they arrived. David, Kathy, and Larry spent most of the day in the paddocks introducing our girls to the visitors while Ixchel, Iriana, and Ithan offered peppermints and pellets read more...

Checking in on our well

Kathy and Larry went down to Carrizozo to turn on the water for the shrubs we planted last summer and to check in on the well. We still don't have electricity and need Hydrotech Drilling to come back with a generator large enough to pump it clean.

We've come to realize that our biggest expense at the moment is feed. So we decided to plant our own hay.
